After graduating cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in 1991, Chris Shulman initially practiced as an attorney for almost 10 years, representing individuals, labor unions, and employers in connection with a variety of statutory, contractual, and common-law employment law claims. He also handled general practice, business disputes, and personal injury matters for clients. He is a member of the Florida Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. From 1995 to 2001, Chris mediated on and off, but, since January 2002, Chris has limited his practice to service as a neutral dispute resolution professional.

He is a certified Florida Circuit and County Court Mediator, a Florida Court-Appointed Arbitrator, a Florida Hurricane Mediation Mediator, and a Primary Circuit and County Mediator Trainer.  A Diplomate and 2005-2006 Board Member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators, Chris serves on the panels of neutrals for several organizations, including the American Arbitration Association (Commercial/Employment and Large & Complex Case Panels); the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida; the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; NASD/FINRA Dispute Resolution (Mediator and Public Arbitrator/Panel Chair) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (Labor Arbitrator). Between service as a mediator, arbitrator, hearing officer, and federal-sector EEO complaint adjudicator, Chris has resolved – or, in the case of mediation, helped the parties resolve – more than 1800 matters. He is also a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, ACR-Florida (where he has served as President), and the Hillsborough County Bar Association ADR Committee (he was co-Chair from 2004-2006).

Chris is an Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law, teaching Negotiation, Mediation and Arbitration Advocacy courses, and a Senior Adjunct Instructor at Keller Graduate School of Management, where he has taught Business Law and Ethics, Employment Law, and Negotiations since 1999. In addition, Chris’ 40-hour Circuit Civil Mediation Training Program and 20-hour County Mediation Training Program have been certified by the Florida Supreme Court.
